So chasing lions in high heels... what the heck am I talking
about? No, I don't mean the lions are the ones wearing the heels.
I really thought long and hard about what I would call this
blog. Shopaholics Anonymous? True but No...
Mouse Catcher? Again, true but hell to the no... then I came
across the book, " In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day." by Mark Batterson The book was inspired by a small passage in the Bible:
“Benaiah chased a lion
down into a pit. Then, despite the snow and slippery ground, he caught the lion
and killed it” (2 Samuel 23:20 -21)
The authors description of
the book is as follows
“Our best days often start
out as our worst days. And our greatest opportunities are often disguised as
our biggest problems. You can land in a pit with a lion on a snowy day, and it
will seem like the end of the road. But God is in the recycling business. He
recycles past experiences and uses them to prepare us for future opportunities.
That is the story of my life. And that is the story of your life. Look in the
rear view mirror long enough and you’ll see that God has purposely positioned
you everywhere you’ve been—even when it seemed you’d taken a wrong turn.”

Being completely honest, I
have yet to finish the book. (I have
been a little hooked on cheesy romance novels and have not prioritized
finishing it, but what I have read is great!)
More importantly the whole
idea behind the book struck a nerve and rang true for me given my current
circumstances. How terrifying! Who in
their right mind would actually chase a lion, let alone live to tell the
tale!?! I must remember that all things are possible through God. So as scary as my current struggles may be I
will run full speed ahead because I know my God is for me. I threw in the high heels… 1.)
because I am fully capable of running in them and 2.) it never hurts to be fashionable.
I love this.....wow!!
